Big week for the LSD team at the Banco do Brasil São Sebastião Pro in Maresias, Brazil.
Congratulations to Charli Hately, who took out the women’s event at this stop of the Challenger Series. And a huge effort from Oscar Berry, who surfed through to the semifinals to finish equal 3rd in the men’s.
It’s a massive result for both of them. Charli and Oscar each jumped 36 places on the CS rankings, which puts a spot on next year’s Championship Tour within reach. For Oscar, that means re-qualification is back on the table.
What they’re riding
Oscar Berry
- Main board: GT model, 5'10" x 18 3/4" x 2 7/16", 28.30L, round square tail
- Grovel board: 5'9 1/2" x 18 7/8" x 2 7/16"+, 26.5L, round square tail
Charli Hately
Charli has been riding the GT all CS season. Her boards are a scaled-down version of Oscar’s file.
- Main board: GT model, 5'6 1/2" x 18 1/8" x 2 3/8", 25.8L, thumb tail
- Grovel board: 5'6" x 18 1/4" x 2 7/16", 26.0L, thumb tail
The thumb tail comes from the Noa 2, one of Charli’s earlier favourites. Judging by the result in Maresias, the combination is working.
Next stop: Portugal
The next Challenger Series event kicks off in Portugal soon, and we’ll be cheering the team on all the way. Good luck, Charli and Oscar!
